Exploring Ceramics with Dr. Sharif Bay – Artist Demo & Talk on Wheel Throwing & Handbuilding

September 16, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join us in welcoming Dr. Sharif Bey, Ceramics Professor at Syracuse University’s School of Art, to the Flower City Arts Center’s Ceramic Studio!

Dr. Bey will give a wheel demonstration, with elements of handbuilding, to share how he makes his body of work. Dr. Bey’s sculptures are inspired by modernism, functional pottery, Oceanic Art, and Art of the African diaspora. After the demonstration, we will break at noon for a 45-minute lunch break (feel free to bring your own or explore the many culinary options in our neighborhood). From 1 – 2 pm, Dr. Bey will present a lecture and take questions.

Pre-registration is required: https://flowercityarts.org/classes/Sharif-Bey-sculpture-demo-talk-2023/
